JEFF MAYSH is a journalist and author based in Los Angeles. He has written for the Atlantic, BBC, Cosmopolitan, the Guardian, Marie Claire, Playboy, Vanity Fair, and many other titles. He investigates crime, sport, urban legends, and unlikely heroes. He is 33.

Jeff began his career at British men’s magazine Loaded, winning several magazine industry awards. He moved to America in 2010 as a freelance foreign correspondent, covering American crime. He reported from the Colorado theater shooting, and the tragic Newtown school massacre. On lighter assignments he covered the Miss America beauty pageant for Britain’s Sunday Telegraph, and interviewed teenage exorcists in Arizona.

His profile of Steve Davies, a mythical soccer fan who scored a goal for West Ham United, was listed in Best American Sports Writing 2014 and voted ‘the best soccer story of all time’ by readers of Longform.org and EA Sports. Paramount Pictures are developing a movie based on Jeff’s Atlantic story ‘The Wedding Sting’, about a fake wedding thrown by undercover Michigan cops.

Jeff lives in Los Angeles with his wife, and a cat they adopted from a bikini factory.
